About Virginia VOAD

VA VOAD was formed in order to enhance and support the response of non-governmental agencies during an event within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

VOAD connects faith-based and non-profit agencies that respond during disasters and emergencies with the Department of Emergency Management, the EOC and FEMA in order to better coordinate response and recovery during an event. This coordination allows agencies to better communicate as well as manage assets and resources.

The Virginia VOAD adhere to the principles established by the National VOAD. The principles are referred to as the 4C's:

These principles serve as the foundation for the Virginia VOAD as it collaborates with local, regional and national partners to coordinate disaster relief, response and recovery efforts in times of disaster.
